You aren’t active on social media and you call yourself a brand? Uh-huh.
It’s the year 2021.
The digital world has grown significantly in the last few years, and yet there is a lot of space for it to grow. From Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn to the exciting Snapchat and Instagram, there are several platforms to showcase your creativity and establish brand authority.
But the fact is, most of us don’t put ourselves out there much on these platforms.
You can’t just get away by posting random stuff and sharing what others say. That isn’t how brands grow on social media.
In fact, there is an organized way to build your brand in an effective manner using digital platforms.
First, you need to plan. Maybe sit down with a mug of coffee and write your strategy.
And then you work on it. That’s the key.
With a well laid out plan in your hand, you need to put your time and resources into creating content for different platforms according to what suits your brand.
In this post, I’ll share a few things to keep in mind if you want to create engaging content that brings your brand into the limelight and inspires your audience to take the desired action.
Understand your audience [Research a lot]
There is no sense in creating content unless you have a certain target audience in mind. Your brand needs to create a buyer’s persona and plan your content accordingly.
Think of what your audience might need, or which type of content will help them the most. Relevancy is the key to writing a successful social media post.
Be one of them [Speak their language]
Research and find out how your ideal customers interact and communicate on social media.
Every set of audience desires a different sort of content. You can’t expect the CEO of a company in Singapore to engage the same way with your content as a college student in India.
Be specific. Use the words they speak. This will show them you understand their needs and challenges.
Stay consistent [don’t let your content fade away]
Nothing is as important as being consistent with your tone.
Think of every great brand- Nike, Coke, Apple, or Adidas. They have always stayed true to their original brand voice.
You need to decide which emotion and personality your brand is going to target through social media. This ‘voice’ needs to be consistent throughout your content. This will create enough trust among your audience and emotionally connect them with your brand.
Use visuals [Make it look stunning]
Take benefit from the use of images and videos to convey your story. Posting visually attractive content on social media makes your audience stop at its sight and actively engage with it.
Don’t over-use written words. Sharing your story through videos helps engage with your audience on a deeper level. For best results, optimize it according to the platform you are posting on.
Share relevant information [Keep it simple]
People admire it when others value their time. Only post relevant content and keep a NO B***S*** brand strategy.
A great way to do this is by making your content visually easy-to-read.
Here are some tips
- Use bullets and headlines to clearly structure your content.
- Keep your paragraphs short with not over 3-4 sentences.
- Stay true to what the headline says. Nothing else.
Remember that you are not the only brand looking for an audience. There is too much noise and chaos in the social media market, and it needs consistent efforts from your brand to stand out from all of it.
Create genuine connections, offer value ‘bombs’, and engage with your audience through funny comments and DMs.
Do proper research and understand what your ideal customer expects from your brand. Foster emotional connection with your target audience, as this will help you gain a loyal following- thus establishing your brand on social media.
And always be real. Stay true, stay you.
